August, 2008 > Austin headed home Friday night after his 4-week racing stent back East, which included over 15 races. Although he was forced to return home early his overall racing experience was successful.
After setting quickly time at Kokomo Speedway on Sunday August 3rd, Austin ended his evening upside down during a heat race incident. He was released from the local hospital after several hours of observation complaining of a very sore back. He attempted to compete Wednesday at Gas City I69 Speedway but the injuries were still lingering. To allow sufficient healing time Austin has cut his trip short and flown home to California.“Accidents are an unfortunate part of racing. It is not the first and probably not the last but nothing is going to keep me for doing what I love," he said.
Austin is hopeful he will return to West Coast action on August 23rd with the USAC/CRA sprint cars at the Perris Auto Speedway.
